Mind Control Question Revived in Sirhan Sirhan Appeal
The current appeal filed by Sirhan Sirhan, convicted for the 1969 assassination of Senator Robert Kennedy, contains an expert testament prepared by Professor Alan Scheflin of the Santa Clara University School of Law. In it, Scheflin declares that the Jordanian-born gunman presented himself as “an ideal subject” for “mind control” and that public pronouncements of the psychiatric community that hypnosis can be used for only benign purposes were not factual and represented merely an attempt to discourage “unscrupulous individuals” from engaging in “unethical and illegal conduct.”
A variety of unresolved questions exist in relation to the Kennedy assassination. In addition to the oft-floated idea of Sirhan Sirhan as a “Manchurian candidate”, there is the testimony of Kennedy campaign volunteer Sandra Serrano who claims she saw a “woman in a polka dot dress” run down a fire escape after the killing giddily yelling “we shot him - we shot Kennedy!”
